Moving Forward Through Unemployment, Wellesley Library, May 12, 2010, 10 am - 11:30 am

Transitions are periods of change. They bring about a sense of loss for the old path and uncertainty for the new path. Literature shows that the transition of unemployment, in particular, can negatively affect an individual's psychological well-being, as well as the health of their primary relationships. Our workshop will address a variety of personal coping strategies, as well as practical advice on:

  • Creative ways to cut expenses and live leaner within your new (and only temporary!) circumstances.
  • Programs and websites that can provide financial assistance and relief with certain bills
  • Where to go to get help with healthcare costs while on unemployment
  • Networking as THE critical job search tool - where and how to effectively do i
  • We will include question and answer time allotted for issues and concerns important to attendees.

We are also working on several upcoming events addressing issues people face during major life changes. We plan to have panels of experts and individual speakers join us with information about topics such as Transitioning with Children, Moving Forward Through Divorce, Living Within A New Budget, and Moving Your Aging Parents Forward, to name a few.

We will also add a networking event to our schedule for those wanting to connect with others going through the same challenges and transitions.
