Such a high percentage of the population is unemployed right now – about 10%, give or take, depending on where you live.  And improvement to these numbers doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight.  And then, on April 1st, we found out that Congress was going on Easter recess without voting on the HR4851 bill, making those who are unemployed unable to file for an extension to their benefits, thus leaving hundreds of thousands of people in the lurch.  Seriously? Well, last night many people breathed a sigh of relief when the Senate got their act together and retroactively approved the benefits bill.  They even got one lone Republican to vote for it. Good job, guys.  Now, they’re talking about trying to help those unemployed for a longer period of time by adding an additional tier of benefits.  There’s a grassroots petition being circulated on the internet that gives people a voice in this matter – check out change.org if you want to learn more and participate.  As of this morning, they have nearly 12,000 signatures; a clear call to Congress that more help is needed.

At Moving Forward Advisors, we understand the needs of this transition.  Check us out on YouTube about helping people through this – we were just interviewed by Belinda Fuchs of ownyourmoney.com on her show “Money On Your Mind” about this exact topic.  The link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ostNi-b3g9E
